Fall 2009 Eye Color Collection ~ Coming Soon!

Right in time for cooler days and the back to school blahs. Our new 2009 Fall Eye Color Collection. We have worked all year to come up with the perfect colors for the autumn and winter months. Rich, deep and neutral, these shades will compliment any complexion.

Now for a sneak peak of 6 of the new shades we will be introducing:

Blue Eye Shadow

A great little article on blue eye shadow we came across....

Out of all the eye shadows, blue is the most pretty but also the most difficult to pull off. The actual makeup application isn’t the problem - it’s being able to work with the right shade and making sure that it suits your outfit and skin tone. Many think that blue eye shadow should stay frozen in the days of disco but if you’ve got the right knowledge about what blue eye shadow will work for you, there should be no reason why you can’t rock this awesome shade without criticism.

So who is responsible for the “no blue eye shadow” rule? No one knows but after a few decades of nothing but blue eye shadow, it was only a matter of time before society in general got sick of it and turned to other shades. However, that should no longer be the case. If you can manage to find the right shade to suit you, your eye makeup will be the talk of the town and not the kind that draws gossip. The easiest way to learn what blue eye shadow you should be adding to your makeup collection is to know what shade complements your complexion. Not all blue eye shadow looks good on everyone so it’s all about making your look unique. Own the color and you’ll be all set.

For brown complexions, you’ll want to find a great eggshell blue shade to apply across your crease. Pull the color down towards the hooded part of your eye and if you really want to stay true blue, follow it up with blue mascara on the upper and lower lashes. If that sounds like too much, stick with the eggshell blue on your lids and use your regular black mascara (brown mascara against the blue may make your lashes look like they’ve disappeared so avoid this color of mascara). Olive complexioned gals look fabulous in icy or silver-blue shades. The contrast against the skin creates a completely ethereal appearance. Ladies with olive skin should stay away from eye shadow shades that contain yellows or oranges since this is the common undertone for olive skin.

Porcelain princesses can also rock blue eye shadow with the right shade. Pale-skinned brunettes should stick to blue eye shadow shades that shimmer and are more on the blue-purplish side. Using this color on the outer edges of your upper eyelids will create an amazing look. Follow this up with a liner brush using the same shade to draw a thin line right under the lower lash. Blondes with fair complexions can use a shade that is more transparent and contains a blue-greenish color. This shade should go on the entire upper eyelid and to finish the look, apply a light coat of brown mascara (black mascara can appear too dramatic against fair-skin).

Mineral Foundation Application

Switching to Mineral Loose Foundation can be tricky. Follow these steps to achieve complexion perfection!

When applying Mineral Makeup remember you need much less makeup to get the same coverage results as regular makeup.

1. Moisturize your face beforehand. The mineral foundation adheres to the natural oil of your skin, and if your face is too dry, the powder might end up looking like just that - powder. Apply lotion and wait 10 minutes, as a face too oily would melt the make-up. Trial and error might be needed to find the perfect balance.

2. Pour a small amount of the mineral foundation powder into the cap of the jar. This helps avoid using too much, and you could always add a layer if needed. Use maybe a little more than a pinch or so.

3. Dab on any enhancers that you may need to specific areas, such as under the eyes. Press fingertip in foundation for a concentrated amount and dab your blemishes to make them disappear.

4. Swirl the kabuki brush in the cap, then tap the brush to dust off the extra powder. The brush is most important in covering large areas of your face, and an inferior brush might make the make-up look artificial.

5. Apply the foundation by rubbing the brush on your skin in a circular motion. This is where you decided how the make-up will look. Its recommended to start lightly on the cheeks and move off to the side of your face. The brush isn't supposed to just dust your skin with powder, its going to BUFF the powder, to help it adhere to the oil in your skin. The more you buff, the heavier the coverage will be. This takes practice to find the right technique.

6. Once you have the look you want with foundation, apply a setting powder. Apply it the same way you would the foundation. Without it, the make-up will eventually look a little tired. With it, the makeup will hold much longer and look less sweaty. You can really tell the difference between using it and skipping it.

Here are the colors of Flawless Finish Foundation we carry:

To make your minerals give more coverage in an instant you can use this technique: Using a mist sprayer, spray your foundation brush with a very light mist of water. Then swipe it into your minerals. Now, buff on!

How to Foil LaLa Bloom Eye Shadow and Pigments

Want your eyeshadow to look shiny like foil ?

This technique is perfect for a night out or whenever you want your eyes to POP and look dramatic.

Instructions:

1. Scoop some eyeshadow or pigment and place it on your mixing surface (wax paper works great). Just use a tiny amount!

2. Push your powder into a little pile and then, put a drop of mixing medium or eye drops directly onto the shadow/pigment.

3. Next, get your vegan shadow brush and mix the drop of liquid with the shadow, it should have a paste like consistency. It should feel creamy when you have it right.

4. Use the brush to pick up some of the mixture. Apply a thin layer on to your eye and smooth out any clumps or bumps. Viola!

*Don't forget to wash your brush when you're done*

2 in 1 Mineral Foundation

Apply our loose foundation with our Vegan Long Flat Top Synthetic Brush. This brush gives you more control with application than a full Kabuki Brush. The soft flat top helps to 'buff' the foundation on your face for a flawless and smooth finish.

How to add a little *bling* to your daily mascara

We think this trick is a must have for a night out on the town! Achieve this look with only a few simple steps:

1. Apply your usual black/brown mascara.
2. Before it dries, dip a flat eyeshadow brush into our coloured mineral eyeshadow or pigment and pat on top of your lashes while looking down.

A hint of blue brings out blue eyes. Green for green eyes. Purple for hazel and brown eyes.

Your lashes are meant to accentuate your eyes! Have fun!

Love the look of liquid eyeliner but never manage to get it quite right?

•  Take the brush at the angled tip end, with the shortest angle facing the direction you want to line (resist the urge to use the long angle end -- you'll have more control this way).
•  Mix a small amount of our Mineral Eyeliner with purified water or eyedrops (Visine is our favorite!).
•  Use light pressure and sweep along your lash line, finishing either at the end of your eyelid, or flare it out just past your eyelid for a chic cateye effect!
Follow these tips, and with a little practice, you'll be a pro in no time!
